The Dimension Check is a tool that checks the dimensions in the CAD file against the CAD graphics. It works by reading annotative text and then associating that text with the linear distance of the graphical element, based on proximity. The Dimension Check runs after the CAD file has passed both the Structure and Georeference checks. The Dimension Check report includes the annotative text, the corresponding measured line distance, the difference between the values, the relative scale between the text and the measured element, and the xy coordinates of the annotative text.
In the example above, the CAD file was created using GRID distances as indicated in the Scale column. If the CAD file was created using GROUND distances, the Dimension Check results would show Scale equal to 1.
As with the Structure and Georeference checks, SPOC prompts the user with the option to receive an email with the Dimension check results. An email will be sent with a CSV file attached that contains the same information as displayed interactively on the Validate Plan page.
Sample Dimension Check CSV output:
The Dimension check tests the following CAD layers: 13,17,22,24,26 and 28.
The purpose of the Dimension check is to bring attention to the variances and to highlight possible blunders before the plan is submitted to LTO. Most of these mismatches do not require the plan to be amended.
If the surveyor is satisfied with the variances displayed in the report file, the file can be accepted and SPOC will proceed to the Confirm Plan Location page. SPOC will not reject any plans due to dimension variances or errors.
